Welcome Erica Weisz, Author, Illustrator and Publisher, to your school or library! Workshops begin with an interactive book reading, designed age appropriately. Throughout the reading, Erica stimulates higher order thinking by: making predictions, observations, and guiding students to make text-to-self and text-to-world connections. Erica will then guide students in an illustrator/writer’s workshop. Portfolio of projects include: how to use a storyboard to develop student’s own stories; re-writing/re-illustrating a page in the book; crafting a scene showing personal experiences about friendship and upstanders; exploring empathy through illustrations in body language.

Accommodates up to 40 students per session; each session runs 1 hour
Book collections for all students are available at wholesale discounts to support building home libraries

What Is The Impact on Students, Teachers, and Families?
“Amazing Teacher Language”
I just wanted to share the excitement that I, as well as, both of my classes have for Mrs. Weisz. She was such an engaging author with amazing teacher language. She knew exactly how to handle curious kindergarten friends. I also thought her follow up activity was spot on. We are working hard in kindergarten on learning and representing expressions, feelings, and using speech bubbles!

“A lively, engaging environment “
The Illinois Holocaust Museum hosted Mrs. Weisz for a family program, and it was a rousing success! Families gathered for a reading of her book One Thousand and One Words, and her expressive language and clever illustrations drew in audience members of all ages. Family members then created art projects exploring body language, emotions, and empathy. Mrs. Weisz created a lively, engaging environment for families to interact and have fun, with lots of learning along the way. It was a terrific afternoon for everyone!

“Your message of kindness really resonated “
I just want to thank you so much for visiting CBS Sunday School. The enthusiasm you brought with you made it a wonderful program that both the teachers and children loved. And your message of [kindness] really resonated with the children. I hope you will visit our school again.

“Powerful and Creative“
The book One Thousand and One Words was perfect timing in so many ways…Today, I had kids that were being disrespectful and talking back. My two classes really got the point and enjoyed it thoroughly.
It’s very powerful and creative.
